Kitchen Sink Sprayers in Miami

Dear Miami Plumbers,

Awhile back I decided to have a kitchen sink sprayer added to my kitchen faucet. It was one of the greatest things I ever did in my kitchen. With my kitchen sprayer I am able to wash my dishes so much easier. In fact, when I had my baby it made it very easy for me to give her a bath in the sink. Sadly, my kitchen sink sprayer has stopped working. I am not really sure why this is true, but I almost do not know what to do without it anymore. I have become so used to using the sprayer that washing dishes is now a huge hassle. I was wondering if you might know what went wrong. I put this sprayer in only five years ago. I know that things get old after awhile, but five years seems like way to short of a time for it to be completely broken. Please help me decide what may be wrong with it or do I just need to have it completely replaced?

We completely understand with how in love you are with your kitchen sink sprayer. It makes difficult messes very easy to clean and is a huge help in the kitchen. Seeing as you have only had your kitchen sink sprayer for five years, we do not believe you need to completely replace it. There are a few things you can do yourself to diagnose the problem. Some of the problems are easy to solve and you can do them yourself while others you may need a professional plumber.

One problem that occurs with kitchen sink sprayers is that they get very dirty after using it for a long period of time. This is very common especially if you live in an area with hard water. This is a very easy fix. All you need to do is remove the small screen that is attached to the tip of the sprayer. Once you have removed the tip you should look to see how dirty it may be. Most likely, after using it continuously for five years straight, it is probably pretty dirty. There is a very easy way to clean this tip without using any chemicals. A great way to clean it is by placing it in either white vinegar or lemon juice. Once clean, make sure to rinse it off well so that your water does not end up tasting like lemons or vinegar.

Another thing to do is actually take the sprayer off of the faucet. You can then look to see if there is anything blocking water from getting to the sprayer.
